- There are wings within us all.
For imagine being a bird, one instantaneously makes the connection with having wings and the ability to roam the skies. Now when we look in the mirror the reflection tells us we are, merely, human without wings and without this innate ability to fly. But there is another interpretation of this reflection. For to see us humans encompassed with one of the most complex structures known to men in the entire known universe, namely our brains. The brain is an immensely powerful toolbox. The toolbox is our mind, the tools our imagination. For imagine we have the ability to fly, let it be with the help of the steel wings of an airplane, the winged suit of a stuntman, the blanc canvas for an artist before the completion of a masterpiece or the instruments an orchestra plays while producing a harmoniously tender ballade that touches our heartstrings. This is when humans do fly.
When we think of someone who is not bound by any physical restraints we say this person is a free as a bird, it is as if this person has wings. Yet I say this person is merely spreading his wings and has found a way to keep flight. Life is about this keeping in flight. We all have wings, we just tend to forget how to use them as we grow older. Mundane, simple and repetitive tasks do not require wings. These merely require compliance and structured procedures. No room for imagination and thus no flying. For all we need is a sense of beloning and we can take off into equinimity, flying around in the space of our own joy.
Spread your wings and take your life's flight!1 0 0 0
