- Vodoun & End of the Year Ceremonies
In Vodun Traditions (Benin,Togo,Ghana) during this time, many Temples from the city to the Bush (rural areas) are preparing and performing many rituals for what is known as the “End of the Year Ceremonies.” In the Ewe language some know it as "Fetatotro." In Fon language some know it as "Mi nan kpe Ali." It’s a time of rejuvenation. It is time for celebration and gratitude to all the Vodou spirits and there contributions to our lives for the year. The notion of gratitude is very important in African tradition. Even initiates (both international and domestic) who can’t make it to the ceremonies will still send money to their temples to express gratitude. But it also a time to make your wishes and ask what you need for yourself, family and community coming into the new year etc.
The rituals play a vital role in ensuring that the results we are looking for will manifest. We celebrate through various rituals, music, singing dancing. It’s also an opportunity for some Priests and Initiates to show off their abilities. Soon the day will come when our Vodoun traditions will grow in the diaspora especially in black communities where our culture will be embraced and supported. Loved and respected instead of feared and rejected. And before you know it, we will be celebrating in the states just as we do back home in Africa. How many of you would like that ? - Due to the fact that NONstellar is more of a commercial vehicle and that there is no way to see friends' posts, I'm removing about 5-10 ppl on my friends list today. If u ain't got nothin' but a promo profile for product with no personal contact with me, ur gone.
Seems like administrators are much too busy with other stuff...1 0 0 0
- Because I have experienced little or no interpersonal contact on NOnstellar and the suggestion from the help page was "maybe this platform is not for you", I will be doing a purge of my "friends" list (99% of whom I do not know personally).
Social media is driven by social contact, interaction, and a having a certain amount of traffic. So far, NOnstellar has prepared me for a solo trip to another galaxy in which I will not have much contact with the outside world.
Save the snark and bot responses. You know where to put them. If you don't, I'll be more than happy to tell you.0 0 0 0
